Hi, my name is Michael Brest and here's my chance to tell you a little bit about me!

I’m a professional trumpet player who currently lives and teaches in Columbia MD, and performs regularly all around DC, Maryland, and Virginia. I have been a member of the United States Air Force Band since 2009, which means I AM in the Air Force and my full time job is playing the trumpet. I play in the Ceremonial Brass which means most of my performances are either brass quintet performances at high profile promotions and retirements, arrivals for foreign dignitaries, or rendering honors by playing Taps at Arlington National Cemetery. I am also a member of the Apollo Chamber Orchestra under maestro Stephen Czarkowski, and teach masterclasses, coach sectionals and perform a number of solo and chamber recitals throughout the year.

When I am not practicing, performing, or teaching, I get to hang out with my beautiful wife Becca (we got married last year!) and our cat Pumpkin. I also spend as much time outdoors as I can climbing rocks, camping and running or hiking on trails!

If you are looking for a more formal bio with things like where I went to school, who I studied with and some of the other things I have done in my career here it is!
